The ASRC Federal team supporting the United States Department of Agriculture in St. Louis, Missouri, has delivered a new Salesforce platform-based application in support of USDA’s Rural Development Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP).

HBIIP aims to increase the sales and use of higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel by expanding the infrastructure for renewable fuels derived from U.S. agricultural products. The program will help rural communities build robust and sustainable economies.

The application, launched in late May, allows rural businesses to quickly and easily apply for federal grant set asides as part of the HBIIP. The application also serves as means for USDA leadership to track grant data and other program requirements and streamlines previous, paper-based management of HBIPP grants supporting the agency’s digital modernization efforts.

ASRC Federal’s team of software and application developers performed full life cycle development and deployment, from gathering business requirements to final production in just under three months.

“Our team has been supporting complex USDA missions for over a decade and we are proud to bring forward technology solutions that allow improved delivery of services to farmers and rural communities,” said Jennifer Felix, ASRC Federal president and CEO. “Through collaborative efforts with Rural Development stakeholders and our Salesforce implementation experts – we delivered a technology solution that will help farmers and rural communities while strengthening our country’s energy independence.”

USDA’s Rural Development programs offer loans, grants and loan guarantees to help create jobs and support economic development and essential services such as housing, health care, first responder services and equipment, water, electric and communications infrastructure.

ASRC Federal is proud to announce its Mission Solutions subsidiary is one of the first companies in the country to be appraised at Maturity Level 5 of the CMMI Institute’s newly released Version 2.0 for development.
CMMI Version 2.0 enables ASRC Federal Mission Solutions to analyze and appraise internal operations, as well as measure its capabilities against best practices, pinpoint areas of improvement and achieve higher performance. Made possible by a year-long journey focused on leadership, commitment, habituation and a high degree of customer focus, this appraisal offers a benchmark of reliability and consistency.
An appraisal at CMMI Maturity Level 5 demonstrates that a company is performing at an “optimized” level, continually improving its processes based on a quantitative understanding of its business objectives and performance. Further, it provides a high degree of customer assurance and confidence that the company has well ingrained, mature and relevant standard processes that are tailorable, predictable, repeatable and deliver high quality outcomes.
This significant achievement was accomplished during the COVID-19 pandemic, further highlighting the company’s ability to adapt and continue to meet the high standards set forth by the CMMI Institute.

NASA’s SpaceX Demo-2 mission to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program was the first launch of American astronauts on an American rocket from American soil since the last Space Shuttle mission in 2011.
The ASRC Federal team is proud to have played a contributing role to the successful launch of Demo-2 as part of the company’s ongoing mission support to NASA on the Kennedy Infrastructure, Applications and Communications (KIAC) contract, and to the Unites States Air Force’s 45th Space Wing as part of the Cape Launch Operations and Infrastructure Support (CLOIS) contract.
On launch day, ASRC Federal’s team of directors, producers and technicians pooled talents to bring the excitement of the countdown to a worldwide audience in real time, so everyone can be a part of NASA’s #LaunchAmerica effort. The team supported broadcasts of live events and activities, to include long range tracking and imagery of the SpaceX Crew Dragon vehicle.
“I am really excited by the successful launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon, and the tremendous achievement of the return of human spaceflight to US soil! NASA’s Commercial Crew program in conjunction with SpaceX has opened a new window to transportation to the International Space Station,” said Scott “Scooter” Altman, ASRC Federal senior vice president and former NASA astronaut. “I look forward to the crew’s safe return and to a bright future for the Commercial Crew Program.”
Additionally, ASRC Federal’s base operations and facilities infrastructure support team at the Cape worked to verify the operational readiness of support facilities and functions including power, water and HVAC systems. The team also provided service support by storing, inspecting and delivering explosive ordnance components which were installed on the Dragon capsule and Falcon 9 booster.  On the launch pad itself, the team’s chemical lab experts calibrated toxic vapor detection equipment as final preparations were underway.
As NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley complete their assignments on the International Space Station and prepare for a return to Earth, the ASRC Federal teams at Kennedy Space Center will be working with their NASA and Air Force customers to prepare for their safe return.
